International Rome Film Festival
Rome is the capital of independent films. It is home to all young filmmakers in Italy and worldwide, and provides a space where they can spread their new projects.
The Independent Film Festival in Rome took place from the 8th to the 14th of April and was the most important opportunity to show the short films, documentaries and audiovisual productions made by upcoming and young directors.
Independent film festivals, as in many other cities around the world, have become an excellent alternative to mainstream cinema. This year the Fifth Edition of the International Film Festival in Rome will take place. This important festival takes place from 28th of October to the 5th of November and will be a major meeting for world cinema.

On May 3, at 21, in the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, “Fondazione Cinema per Roma“, in collaboration with Feltrinelli, will host a special screening of the documentary “The Universe of Keith Haring” by director Christina Clausen in departure time of the DVD set for next May 5.
The documentary, presented in 2007 in the section L’Altro Cinema / Extra of Rome Film Festival, will be preceded by a presentation by Mario Sesti, section director, flanked by director Christina Clausen and producer Paul Brown.
With the testimony of Yoko Ono, Andy Warhol, Madonna, Bill T. Jones, among others, and thanks to the revelation of an entirely new video material, the film reconstructs the biography, evolution, and the tempestuous creativity of the author, who perhaps more than any other, has designed new forms and signs, unmistakable, the panorama of the contemporary and art in general.

Giuseppe Tornatore will be the President of the International Jury of the Rome Film Festival 2010, scheduled for October 28 to November 5.
The announcement was made by the president of the festival Gian Luigi Rondi, along with the artistic director Piera Detassis, who wanted to put strong emphasis on the great merits of Tornatore, naming him one of the leading figures and most renowned personalities of Italian cinema. Tornatore has contributed to consolidate and expand the frontiers of the cinematic arts during his 20-year carreer.

In the Focus section the main theme will be about the environment. In the last category Extra the focus will be on the audiovisual achievements.

Are you looking for a nice idea for a weekend in early automn? Then head over to the Rome International Film Festival, a film festival taking place each year in Rome, Italy, during the month of October at the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
The complete name of the festival in Italian is “Festa Internazionale di Roma.”
Festa could be translated as Fest, or celebration, not Festival, since it is more a celebration of the joy of cinema than a standard film festival.
Now in its fourth year, Rome’s major new film festival has undergone several apparent changes of name, from RomeFilmFest to Cinema Festa Internazionale di Roma to Festival Internazionale del Film di Roma—giving in to the current English title of International Rome Film Festival.
